It is clear that there is a problem, and we want to sort it.
We are committed to striving for gender equality, as part of working to ensure everyone in Greater Manchester can live in a greener, fairer and more prosperous city-region.
As a result of our Gender-Based Violence Strategy, we can already see some positive changes being made.
We have worked to put the voices of those with lived experience at the heart of what we do. We created a Lived Experience Panel, made up of inspirational women with diverse experiences of gender-based violence, whose voices we will ensure are heard.
We have significantly increased funding to victims of gender-based violence. We have secured over £5million since launching our Strategy, which has supported programmes delivered by our partners, including services for women impacted by the rules surrounding no recourse to public funds.
And we have worked closely with national and international partners, such as the Domestic Abuse Commissioner of England and Wales and the United Nations' Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women and Girls and its Causes.
We will continue to be ambitious and to lead the way in preventing and tackling all forms of gender-based violence. Together, we will make a safer Greater Manchester for everyone.
