Greater Manchester Music Commission Application

In 2019, UK Music and Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) published the Greater Manchester Music Review which included ten recommendations on how the city region could support and develop music in Greater Manchester. One of the recommendations was the formation of a Greater Manchester Music Commission.

Following the re-election of Andy Burnham as Mayor of Greater Manchester in May 2021, GMCA is establishing the Commission, which will meet four times a year, from 2021 onwards. Andy Burnham will be the political lead for the Greater Manchester Music Commission, with support from co-chairs.

The role of the Greater Manchester Music Commission will be to support and promote music in Greater Manchester.

What information we will collect from you (the purpose and legal basis for processing information)

The personal details provided as part of this form will be used assess your application for the Greater Manchester Music Commission. 

The Commission aims to represent the diverse nature of Greater Manchester residents in the industry. Therefore, you will be asked about how you represent or support this diversity. This information will be used to ensure equal opportunity and representation of the Commission membership.

It will also be used to contact you about your application.

The legal basis for using your data in this way will be:

  • Article 6 1(e) processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller
  • Article 9 2(g) processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest.  The substantial public interest being - Equality of opportunity or treatment

How long will you hold onto my data?

Your application will be held for a period of 12 months following the appointment of the Commission Membership. After which it will be securely destroyed.

Who do we share your information with?

Your application will be reviewed by GMCA staff only. Therefore, the information contained in your application will not be shared with any organisation outside the GMCA.
