In 2020, GMCA formed a new Skills Intelligence team to play a key role in informing and developing the Skills for Growth programme.
Supported by Skills for Growth – SME Support, the intelligence team has spent time engaging with employers in the programme’s priority industries to understand the skills gaps and hard to fill vacancies in both large and small employers.
This information is then matched against existing skills provision across the city-region, in order to identify gaps in the current skills landscape and work to resolve these through commissioning innovative training opportunities.
The insights provided by the Skills Intelligence team are compiled into reports, which are then used to inform the design of new training workshops and courses.
A constant feedback loop will be created to ensure the programme remains current and to inform next steps.
