To be confirmed

Councillor Tom Ross has become the new leader of Trafford Council, following a vote by councillors. He takes over from Cllr Andrew Western, who has been elected as Member of Parliament for Stretford and Urmston. He will now replace Andrew in his role at Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

Tom grew up and went to school in Trafford before studying Economic History at the London School of Economics. Following graduation he has lived in Sale and now is a resident of Stretford.

Tom was first elected to Trafford Council in 2008 at the age of 26 and represents Stretford Ward. He has held several roles in his time on the Council, including being the Executive Member for Finance since 2019 and he has overseen each Council budget since then.

Outside of the Council, Tom is a governor at Victoria Park Junior School in Stretford and a trustee at Homestart Trafford, Salford and Wigan.

In his spare time, Tom likes long distance walks and recently completed the new GM Ringway route. He also enjoys swimming, having first learned to swim as a challenge when he was Mayor of Trafford in 2018/19.

Portfolio responsibilities are to be confirmed.
