Creating a Resilient Future for Greater Manchester

Greater Manchester starts working with the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities programme along with 99 other cities from around the world.

100 Resilient Cities, pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping cities across the world prepare to meet the physical, social and economic challenges that exist as part of 21st century life.

During 2016, it was announced that Greater Manchester had been selected to join the 100 Resilient Cities programme along with 99 other cities from around the world. At the end of the year, a Greater Manchester workshop was held to begin setting the agenda for our resilience journey. Over 150 people from local agencies, businesses and communities came together to help shape resilience work in Greater Manchester for the coming years. The workshop also welcomed a number of international resilience pioneers including representatives from cities across the world that have led innovative resilience approaches with their local communities.
