Greater Manchester Combined Authority setting example with Living Wage plans

THE Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has committed itself to becoming Living Wage accredited at its meeting in Salford.

The move comes following the launch of the Greater Manchester Strategy, which sees the combined authority pledge to encourage the city-region’s businesses to make the right step and raise pay to help their employees.

The higher rate of pay aims to help improve employee wellbeing, motivation, recruitment and retention.

The real living wage, outside of London, is currently set at £8.45 an hour and is reviewed and changed annually by the Living Wage Foundation.
