Greater Manchester to be highlighted at upcoming event

Follow the Greater Manchester ‘Doing Digital Differently’ story on this years Connected North stage – an event pitched as the North’s dedicated digital economy event.

Taking place at Manchester Central on the 22nd and 23rd April, Connected North 2024 will see 200 expert speakers and 2500 attendees from across the digital economy ecosystem for a dedicated regional forum on connectivity enabled social and economic growth.  

Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and partners, are pleased to be showcasing the region’s digital ambitions through the following panel sessions.

Day 1 - 22nd April

  • 12.10pm. Bridging the digital divide for Northern communities, featuring John Steward, Digital Infrastructure Lead, GMCA
  • 12.00pm. 5G innovation showcase featuring Phil Swan, Director for Digital, GMCA
  • 2.00pm. Connected public services featuring Kieran Smith, Head of Digital Transformation, GMCA

Day 2 - 23rd April

  • 9.40am. Local authorities showcase their key milestones and achievements in developing critical digital infrastructure for the region featuring Eamonn Boylan, Chief Executive, GMCA
  • 12.10pm. The digital switchover, featuring Nicola Wallace Dean, Chief Operating Officer, Starting Point Community Learning Partnership.
  • 12.10pm. Local authorities addressing the digital divide featuring Alexandria Morgan, Trafford Council
  • 2.10pm. Working with housing associations to connect Northern communities, featuring Nick Horne, Chief Executive, Wythenshawe Community Housing Group and Stuart Pearson, Senior Digital Strategy Officer, Manchester City Council
  • 2.10pm. How smart technology could be harnessed to address environmental challenges, using case study examples. Featuring Megan Lawless, Digital Strategy Officer Manchester City Council and Stu Higgins, Head of Smart Cities & IoT, Cisco

All content will outline how GMCA and partners are working towards achieving the ambitions outlined in Greater Manchester’s Digital Blueprint.
