Update on fact finding exercise

GMCA conducted a fact-finding exercise to check the accuracy of how Mr Sacha Lord’s work on a GMCA project was described in Primary Event Solutions Ltd’s application for a grant from Arts Council England’s Culture Recovery Fund and his subsequent statement. We did not see the grant application until it was published in the media in May 2024.

The fact finding concluded that Mr Lord was instrumental in the success of the project referenced and that, without his involvement, it would not have been as successful as it was.

It also concluded that neither Mr Lord nor Primary Event Solutions Ltd received any payment for the work and as such it was not established at the time whether Mr Lord was operating in his capacity as Night Time Economy Advisor or Director of Primary Event Solutions Ltd. 

The fact-finding exercise confirmed that it was the responsibility of the Arts Council to establish whether they considered there to be any inaccuracies in the grant application which influenced the decision to award funding.
