Votes for Women - Why we're #StillMarching

Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, said:

“Too often women’s voices go unheard – particularly in politics. Working with Jean Stretton, Greater Manchester’s lead for equality, fairness and inclusion, I’m determined to change that in our city region.

“When I ran for election, I made a commitment that our Combined Authority would be gender balanced; that women, not just men, will lead and shape the ambitions of our city region. At all our meetings, women and men are equally represented, and all-male panels have been abolished.

“The programme of events taking place in Greater Manchester this year are a brilliant opportunity to put women’s voices centre stage, but as events like the Presidents Club show, we still have a long way to go before gender ignorance and inequality truly becomes a thing of the past.”
