Data and Insights

The GMCA programme includes a focus on improving our use of data and evidence to develop our early years delivery model and associated pathways and strengthen practice with children and families.

The programme focusses on two performance measures, included with the Greater Manchester Strategy (GMS), to measure the impact on child outcomes:

  • Proportion of children achieving the expected level of development at age 2-2.5 years

  • Take up of the 2 year old disadvantage funded early education entitlement

GMS progress reports are produced every six months to update on progress against the ambitions set out in the Strategy.  They draw on the latest data as reported in the updated GMS performance dashboards (linked below).

The programme also uses the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) outcomes to provide further insight into need and outcomes in the early years. National and local context surrounding EYFSP have changed considerably due to the introduction of EYFS reforms in September 2021. Because of the reforms, the data from academic year (AY) 21/22 is not comparable with historic data.  You can access the GM EYFSP dashboard via the link below.
