CASE STUDY: How Everyone Can transform lives through gaming
Everyone Can are a technology & gaming charity that help enrich the lives of disabled people through the power of technology.
The Everyone Can Team support disabled people to communicate, gain independence, control their environment and have fun through using technology. They offer a range of free services at their Technology and Gaming Centre in Sale, Trafford including their Assistive Technology assessments and workshops and gaming sessions.
Assistive Technology Assessments
Assistive Technology can support a disabled person with their everyday tasks, enabling them to control their home environment and live their lives as independently as possible. Everyone Can offer Assistive Technology Assessments to residents, these assessments help assessors gain an understanding of the service users needs and what is currently holding them back, allowing them to match technology to each individual’s needs. After the assessment the assessor I’ll write up a report which documents the specific equipment or software settings that will really make a positive difference to the disabled person’s life.
Gaming sessions
Everyone Can also run weekly free gaming sessions for disabled children & adults. The gaming centre has custom built 150-inch screens for multiplayer games, a driving wheel, arcade machine, virtual reality stations and assistive gaming stations for gamers who are unable to hold a regular controller.
The Everyone Can Team quickly assess participants and are able to get the service users gaming the easiest way for them whether it be with joysticks, head movements or even eye movements. The gaming sessions are all about ensuring everyone can game together.
