Local Energy Advice Demonstrator
Local Energy Advice Demonstrator
The Local Energy Advice Demonstrator (LEAD) is a £2.14m initiative funded by the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero and the North West Net Zero Hub.
The project will look at how energy saving advice can be made clearer and easier to access, helping Greater Manchester residents understand the support and funding available to them and encouraging the uptake of domestic energy saving measures in turn. It will focus on providing advice in-person, with support also available over the phone and online, with a particular goal of reaching residents who might not otherwise be supported.
It will build on existing initiatives, like Your Home Better and streamline the grant eligibility process through the GM Retrofit Portal, providing a clearer pathway to home energy efficiency improvements, and extend our collaborative approach to partnership working across the city-region, in turn helping make a greener, fairer Greater Manchester.
What is the project looking to achieve?
Using a test and learn approach the project will:
-
Provide advice for residents who would not otherwise receive or have access to it, on how to save money on their bills and heat their homes for less.
-
Support residents along a home improvement journey, to understand the financial and expert support available to them, how to access it and how to source an installer to carry out the required energy efficiency upgrades on their home.
-
Provide project partners with a better understanding of how different methods of engagement and behavioural insights can lead to an increased uptake of housing retrofit measures.
-
Pave a path to retrofit devolution under the post 2025 spending review.
