We Lead for Legacy: 2023-2024 Greater Manchester Civic and Community Leadership Programme
In 2023-2024, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) comissioned She Leads for Legacy to deliver the Greater Manchester Civic and Community Leadership Programme: We Lead for Legacy. This six-month initiative engaged 30 aspiring leaders from racially minoritised communities across Greater Manchester. The programme aimed to create lasting change and address under-representation in civic and public life by equipping participants with the skills, resources, and connections necessary to navigate community and societal challenges.

Programme highlights included 7 in-person programme days, including 5 intensive training and connection-building days and a 1-day group Mentoring Marathon which provided focused guidance and support from community leaders and local authorities.
In partnership with Reform Radio, programme participants engaged in podcasting and communications training. This initiative not only aimed to build future skills but also to highlight themes and topics relevant to racially minoritised leaders. The resulting podcasts and webinars provide valuable insights by amplifying the voices of emerging leaders and showcasing the various civic roles available:
