The Former Bury Magistrates Court
The Former Bury Magistrates Court
Greater Manchester Combined Authority is providing £3.95m in development finance to a local SME developer who specialises in refurbishing derelict properties. Funding is provided on a scheme which involves the renovation of a redundant magistrates court which ceased operations in 2017. Completion will see the delivery of 39 apartments and 10 new build starter homes. The building, which was originally built in the 1980s, is an unusual subject for residential conversion and this technical development will see new life injected into the property and avoiding what potentially could have presented a ‘white elephant’ in the centre of Bury. The property to now become a real asset to the town and providing quality homes for local people.
