Trusted people 

There are safe, trusted people and services in key locations across Manchester city centre.

Village Angels

What: Look out for their hot pink uniforms

Where: The Gay Village (Canal Street) - Google Maps

When: Friday and Saturday nights until the early hours

Student Angels

What: Trained student volunteers who provide support, advice and assistance to their student community.

Where: Outside main venues across the city centre, particularly along Oxford Road

When: 10pm – 4am on Friday and Saturday nights and during major student events

Greater Manchester Police officers

What: Up to 50 officers on patrol to help support specific night-time issues.

Where: Key city centre night-time hotspots

When: Every Friday and Saturday night

Taxi marshals

What: Ensure the safety of people accessing taxis. Look out for those wearing hi-vis vests

Where: Key taxi ranks across the city centre

When: Every Friday and Saturday night between 10.30pm and 4.30am

Safe Zone: University security app

What: An app that connects you to University of Manchester (UoM) and Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) security

How: Search online for 'Manchester Safe Zone' for UoM and MMU's information, search the App Store or Google Play for 'Safe Zone' or visit UoM's website to find out more. 

TfGM Transport Staff and TravelSafe Officers

What: TravelSafe Officers are on and around the Metrolink system and TfGM staff are located at bus interchanges in the city centre – both can offer support

When: During Metrolink and interchange operating hours

British Transport Police Railway Guardians app

What: An app that helps you report crime to British Transport Police and what to do if you see sexual harassment on trains or at stations
