Research: Interactive Housing Market Data

Greater Manchester Housing Market Monitor

The Greater Manchester Housing Market Monitor is a collection of interactive dashboards that visualise, and draw out key facts about housing market data. Most of the data centres on Greater Manchester only, but in some cases, higher level geography data such as England and Wales is used. The Monitor covers a range of themes listed below:

  • Costs - This dashboard explores house and rental prices, with comparisons in cost and how they’ve changed over time, and the number of housing benefits claimants.
  • SupplyThis dashboard provides insight on the supply of new housing and affordable housing completions.
  • Demand - This dashboard details the number of households on housing registers in Greater Manchester, and reviews those in reasonable preference.
  • TenureThis dashboard explores the breakdown of tenure across Greater Manchester.
  • AvailabilityThis dashboard provides an overview about the supply of social homes availability, as well as the number of vacant homes.
  • Quality - This dashboard explores the quality of Greater Manchester's housing stock, based on stock condition modelling data of decent, and non-decent homes, as well of those with category 1 housing health and safety hazards.
  • Homelessness This dashboard presents data relating to the experience of homelessness across Greater Manchester from statutory duties to rough sleeping and more.
  • EnergyThis is a page in a wider environmental dashboard focussing on the energy efficiency of housing in Greater Manchester, including EPC ratings.

These dashboards will be updated regularly as and when new data is released, and most of the data used is freely available to download.
