Green Shoots from Year 1

By 2030, our vision is for every young person growing up in Greater Manchester to have a clear, supported path into the good jobs and opportunities our city-region offers.

The Greater Manchester Baccalaureate (MBacc) will be the route that makes this possible. It places technical education on equal footing with academic routes and connects young people directly to the fastest-growing sectors shaping our regional economy.

The first year of MBacc delivery has been a period of learning, collaboration and early progress. Schools, colleges, employers, sector specialists, young people and equalities partners have all contributed to building something that is by Greater Manchester, for Greater Manchester.

This page highlights how those green shoots are already taking root across our city region — and how they’re starting to deliver against the six outcomes that will measure the MBacc’s long-term success.
