Welcome to the WorkWell Service
Greater Manchester WorkWell Service
The Greater Manchester WorkWell Service is designed to help local residents who are struggling to stay in work due to health-related challenges. Launching across Greater Manchester between October 2024 and January 2025 (see local area details below) the service provides personalised, one-to-one support to help people stay in or return to work.
The service is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).
How Does It Work?
The WorkWell Service provides personalised support through dedicated Work and Health Coaches. These coaches work one-to-one with people to assess their needs and create tailored plans focused on overcoming health-related barriers to employment. Support may include:
- Accessing local health services
- Guidance on workplace adjustments to meet health needs
- Exploring suitable employment and career options
Participation in the WorkWell Service is voluntary. People can self-refer or be referred by trusted community networks.
Who Can Access the Service?
WorkWell is available to anyone aged 16 or older who lives in Greater Manchester or is registered with a local GP surgery or Jobcentre Plus.
Whether you are currently employed or have had to leave work, if you are struggling with a health condition which is affecting your ability to work you can access the service. This includes conditions such as musculoskeletal (MSK) issues, mental health challenges, or being on an NHS waiting list.
