Brinnington, Stockport

Stockport Homes is the lead organisation for the Pathfinder in the neighbourhood of Brinnington, Stockport.

Brinnington was one of four areas to be awarded the status of ‘Age-Friendly Neighbourhood’ by Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham in January 2020 following hard work from community groups, public service and older people’s groups.

Engaging with residents

Stockport Homes has been active in the Brinnington community since October 2022 and has formed good relationships with several groups and residents in the neighbourhood. Building these relationships has provided the Pathfinder lead with many opportunities to get involved in the community, including activities such as a weekly yoga session and a well-attended weekly pop-up session.

Stockport Homes partnership and engagement staff have also provided groups with essential equipment and helped write funding bids for local groups.

International Day of Older Persons 2023

For International Day of Older Persons, Greater Manchester Combined Authority partnered with Yellow Jigsaw to film local older residents in place.

Throughout August and September, films were recorded with local residents in each of the Ageing in Place Pathfinder neighbourhoods. Below is the video recorded with Geoff from Brinnington.
