Multiply is a new national programme funded by the Department of Education to help adults aged 19+ who do not have a qualification in Level 2 Maths/Numeracy or equivalent.
The GM Multiply Scheme will support adults to improve their numeracy skills, become more confident with numbers and help them to progress in life.
In Greater Manchester, we have designed our GM Multiply Scheme to support our residents with the essential life skills they need, such as support with cost-of-living or improving their health at home. We also want to ensure this is delivered alongside English and Digital, so all residents have a full rounded offer.
The scheme aims to support residents living in the most deprived areas of Greater Manchester, as well as care leavers and ex-offenders.
There are six key strands to the programme outlined below:
- Pan Greater Manchester Multiply Skills Offer: Aimed at residents within the most deprived areas of the city-region, this offer will engage residents with short courses relevant to them with a view of progressing onto further learning including Maths qualifications. This is being delivered by The Growth Company as well as wide range of supply chain partners. For more information please visit The Growth Company website or email multiply@growthco.uk
- Enhanced Level 2: This will offer additional support and help for Greater Manchester residents enrolled on Level 2 Maths via AEB, but who might not achieve their qualification. This might be because they withdraw from the course or fail the exam. This support was ring-fenced to current Greater Manchester AEB providers delivering Level 2 Maths qualifications. There are 13 colleges and local authority providers offering this additional support in the 2022/23 academic year, supporting 1,200 learners to achieve.
- Pan Greater Manchester VCSE Offer: This commission will offer VCSE/Third sector organisations the opportunity to carry out outreach and engagement work to support residents hardest to reach onto a Multiply opportunity.
