Councillor Nick Peel is Leader of Bolton Council and is the Greater Manchester Combined Authority portfolio lead for Digital City-Region.

First elected to the council in 2000, Nick represents the Tonge with the Haulgh ward, close to Bolton town centre.

In that time, he has held a number of cabinet portfolios covering children’s services, housing, environmental services, regulatory services, the economy, and skills, as well as serving as Chairman of Planning, TfGM representative and as a board member at Bolton at Home.

As Bolton Council Leader, his responsibilities include partnership working and community alliances, public service reform and overseeing the borough’s digital strategy.

Nick was educated at St Columba Primary School, Thornleigh Salesian College and Bolton College before studying Public Administration at De Montfort University.

Outside of politics, Nick likes to relax with a good book or film, or a night out with friends. He took a foray into writing and succeeding in getting his original alternate history novel, The Boy in the Storm, published as an eBook.

A proud Boltonian, Nick is an enthusiastic ambassador for his home town and is always ready to champion Bolton’s many economic, cultural and sporting achievements. The regeneration and economic wellbeing of the borough are at the heart of Nick’s vision for the future.
