PD Train the Trainer Pilot
Developed in Stockport, PD Train the Trainer is a cascade training model to upskill the Early Years workforce. To help improve their understanding of physical development and how they can identify a child's physical development needs earlier to reduce the number of referrals made to specialist services, such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
The GM School Readiness programme funded a pilot to further develop and expand PD Train the Trainer, across 3 localities (Stockport, Salford and Manchester), between July 2023 and December 2024.
The intention of the pilot is to test the PD Train the Trainer model in order to measure:
- Its impact on improving children’s outcomes through greater levels of practitioner confidence and knowledge.
- Reduce the risk of delayed development through optimising intervention and support at the earliest opportunity.
- Develop the consistency of information and advice in our conversations with families.
Once the pilot is completed, it is hoped that the model can be delivered more widely across Greater Manchester.
